LG Develops QuadHD Displays

LG Display  reveals the development of  display  of the highest quality in the world for the new generation of smartphones.
According to the company, the new display belongs to a class of so-called QuadHD-displays, it is able to work with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, while the smartphone diagonal is only 5.5 inches. Figure PPI (pixels per inch) is also a record high - 538. It is almost a half times more than the Retina displays have.

For comparison, modern HD-screens in the latest smartphones running with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. In the statement, the developer says that the new display is capable of displaying Blu-ray video without any compression and extrapolation, passing user "full range of clean images and deep color image".

According to LG, panel thickness is only 1.21 mm and a minimum scope of 1.2 mm, i.e. it is 12% thinner than 5.2 "screen used in the LG G2.

LG Display is considered one of the pioneers and innovators in the mobile displays. It was one of the first to set up mobile screens FullHD, and was the first who began to produce QHD-displays.

LG Display can't say exactly when the new panels can be seen in smartphones and how much they might cost, but it said that such solutions will initially focus on premium-quality devices.
