In October 2014 Microsoft will stop shipping Windows 7 to PC manufacturers. Delivery to retailers was stopped last year. Dates correspond to the standard product line updates policy of Microsoft.
This data applies to all versions of the OS for the consumer market: Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate. The exception is Windows 7 Professional for the corporate market. Microsoft has not identified the date of the termination of its OEM-sales companies.
Retirement of Windows is performed in two stages. At the first stage Microsoft stops selling licenses to retailers. This occurs 1 year after the release of new Windows version. Then, a year later, the company stops selling it to OEM-partners.
