Lately we heard lots of rumors that Nokia was working on Android phones (not rejecting WinPhone development). Peter Skillman - former vice president of MeeGo UX, former vice president of design at Palm and currently head of the project HERE - is the main project manager. In general, Peter Skillman is well suited for this work, but it seems that noone will see the results of his work.
Currently, Nokia is working hard on a few inexpensive Android- devices, among which there is a tablet with a 7-inch touch screen and Snapdragon 400 hardware platform. The problem is that these products may stay in the prototype stage. At least in the near future. And this may happen not only due to the agreement between Microsoft and Nokia, but also due to the comapny's focus on other projects.
The company intends to focus on wearable devices development, including augmented reality, flexible displays, wireless energy transmission and generators of electromagnetic energy. Nokia think that these trends are the most promising, and one of the most interesting projects will be Nokia smart glasses, which release is planned for 2015.
