Researchers from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany have developed a new method for high speed data transmission. In the laboratory they reached the speed of wireless data transmission of 100 Gb / s, which is a new world record.
To transfer data the scientists used a frequency of 237.5 GHz and equipment that uses photonic method for generating radio signals at the transmitter. The transmission distance was 20 meters.
Earlier, the same scientists were able to transfer data wirelessly at speeds of 40 Gb/s at a distance of 1 km.
The commercial availability of the new technology is not reported yet.
